On the morning of Friday 9th February, Fobzu Director, Omar Shweiki, spoke to sixth form students at Notting Hill and Ealing High School about the urgent cause of Palestinian education. Addressing a hall of 50 A-level students, he introduced the topic of the right to education within the broader struggle for Palestinian rights. The talk took place as part of the school’s programme of personal, social, health and citizenship education for sixth form students in which a diverse range of themes are covered.
Speaking at schools and universities is an important element of Fobzu’s commitment to raising awareness about the challenges faced by Palestinian students and teachers. The talk concluded with a lively discussion covering topics ranging from the arrest of Ahed Tamimi to the UK government’s support for Israel and how young people in Britain can support their fellow Palestinian students.
