“ I have a dream…”
Martin Luther King’s famous phrase is repeatedly in the mouths of young Palestinians.
Dreams push back boundaries.
As the Israeli settler and military presence tightens around the lives of Palestinians in East Jerusalem, as elsewhere in the West Bank, anger for some has reached boiling point.
Settler violence was openly blamed in court by a senior Israeli Defence Force officer, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, for the recent knife attacks. Since the beginning of October, 8 Israelis and 70 Palestinians – most of them shot dead by Israeli security forces – have been killed.
But a generation of young Palestinians who have grown up with every aspect of their lives controlled by the military, want to live.
Their dreams are of the future, and for many their best hope lies in education.
