Britain Palestine Friendship & Twinning Network

Fobzu's director, Dr Aimee Shalan, joined the Director of the British Council for the oPt, Brendan McSharry, and former Consul General to Jerusalem, Sir Vincent Fean, to speak at the British Palestine Friendship and Twinning Network (BPTN) AGM, hosted by Houslow Friends of Ramallah, on 28 January 2017.

The morning focused on the challenges and importance of education in occupied Palestine. The focus of the afternoon was on twinning activities and ideas for progress.

Throughout the day, Steve Pound MP for Ealing North, Ruth Cadbury MP for Brentford and Isleworth and Seema Malhotra MP for Feltham and Heston, dropped by and spoke to the gathering to show their support.

Many informal twinning links, as well as a few formal town-town ones, have been set up between British towns and Palestinian villages in recent years. The BPTN, which fosters co-operation and information exchanges, has 25 member twinning towns. Links between UK universities and Palestinian towns/villages have also been set up. These links are highly valued by Palestinian partners and the network is actively looking for more British twinning partners.
